Yu Jihong Selected as TWAS Fellow

The 27th General Meeting of the World Academy of Sciences for the Advancement of Science in Developing Countries (TWAS) raised its curtain in Kigali, Rwanda, on November 14, 2016. Forty new TWAS fellows were elected at the meeting, among whom 10 were Chinese mainland scientist. Prof. Yu Jihong from our college was among the list.


The TWAS academicians cover ten scientific fields, including mathematics, physics, chemistry, astronomy, geoscience, biology, agriculture, medicine, engineering, sociology, and economics. The new selected fellows included four chemical scientists.


TWAS selects fellows from the scientific academies, national research councils, universities, and research institutions of developing countries, as well as scientific organizations of developed countries. The fellows are some of the world’s most accomplished scientists and engineers, who have made remarkable contributions to developing countries’ scientific research in their fields.

PhD, Professor, Academician, State Key Laboratory of Inorganic Synthesis and Preparative Chemistry, College of Chemistry, Jilin University, Changchun, Jilin, China.

The nominee has done important work on the rational design and synthesis of inorganic nanoporous functional materials with the assistance of computational techniques leading to function-led targeted synthesis of inorganic materials. Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, she has received the National Prize for Natural Science twice, the Bau Family Award in Inorganic Chemistry, the 6th Chinese Youth Woman Scientist and the 19th China Youth Science and Technology Award, among others.
